About the Society
For over six decades TKIC has advanced knowledge, practice, and international collaboration in bridge and structural engineering in Türkiye.
Our mission
Knowledge sharing, technical advancement, international collaboration.
We foster cooperation among engineers, contractors, scientific bodies, educational institutions, public and economic state organisations, and private companies working on bridges and civil construction in Türkiye.
We exchange knowledge, experimental results, and practical outcomes related to bridge and civil construction work — whether in reinforced concrete, steel, or any other material — with individuals and organisations both in Türkiye and abroad.
We publish technical bulletins and brochures, organise technical events, and evaluate original and significant works and scientific and technical research produced in the field.
International network
The IABSE Turkey Group.
TKIC is the Turkey representative of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE), founded in Zürich in 1929. IABSE is a scientific and technical association with members in more than one hundred countries and dozens of national representatives worldwide.
The association's aim is to exchange knowledge and to advance the practice of structural engineering worldwide in service of the profession and society. Planning, design, construction, operation, monitoring, inspection, repair, rehabilitation, and preservation — along with the technical, economic, environmental, aesthetic, and social dimensions — all fall within IABSE's scope.

Bylaws
Society Bylaws
The Society was established with the contributions of representatives from the Ministry of Public Works, the State Railways, Etibank, Istanbul Technical School, Istanbul Technical University, the General Directorate of Highways, Sümerbank, and the Union of Turkish High Engineers, and it continues to operate under those founding principles. In matters not explicitly covered by the bylaws, Turkish Association Law, the Turkish Civil Code, and related legislation apply.
